Experts in Medical Imaging Services
All radiologists are board certified by the American Board of Radiology. We have additional fellowship training and expertise in Musculoskeletal Imaging as well as Abdominal imaging and high resolution imaging of the chest.

State of the art equipment with a "Focus on Imaging Excellence"!

All radiology services are performed on state of the art medical imaging equipment exclusively at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.

MRI (Magnetic resonance imaging):  This includes a brand new state of the art Siemens Espree 1.5T MRI with the new large bore technology that permits larger patients and those with claustrophobia (fear of smaller spaces) to comfortably undergo MRI examinations.  MHSC is the only facility in Sweetwater County to offer this new advanced technology.  The result is significantly higher quality MRI exams which permits our radiologists to optimize your diagnosis and help your health care practitioner to provide you with the best treatment options.

CT (computed tomography):  Highest resolution images at the lowest possible radiation dose are permitted through our Philips 64 slice CT.  MHSC is the only facility in Sweetwater County with this state of the art technology.  Very small or subtle diagnoses can be made by the radiologist, optimizing your care.

Mammography:  Through a grant from the Helmsley Foundation, MHSC has acquired the new state of the art digital mammography unit from Hologic (Selenia series) which is capable of providing the highest quality breast imaging with the lowest possible x-ray dose in a relaxed and private "spa-like" setting.  Much less breast compression is needed, resulting in a faster and more comfortable exam.  Minimally invasive stereotactic breast biopsy using mammographic guidance is also now available.  The result is improved comfort and virtually no recovery time if biopsy is required. We continue to be fully accredited by the national MQSA and ACR programs for mammography.  This ensures we provide our patients with the highest quality mammograms possible.

Ultrasound:  With top of the line Acuson Sequoia and new state of the art GE ultrasound units we can diagnose many conditions throughout the entire body by simply using the power of sound waves.  MHSC is the only fully accredited hospital in Wyoming by the American College of Radiology (ACR) for Ultrasound.  This distinction demonstrates our highest level of quality and expertise.

Digital radiography:  All images are obtained digitally and are submitted to the radiologist who also reads your examinations digitally through a proprietary PACS (picture archival computer system).  Your results are also electronically submitted to your referring health care practitioner.  This results in very fast turn-around times.

Nuclear Medicine:  We are the only facility in Sweetwater County providing this line of imaging and therapeutic services.  Diagnoses involving assessment of organ function are made with nuclear medicine examinations.  This technology uses a safe, very small quantity of a radioactive agent.  Our most common nuclear medicine exam evaluates the heart for areas prone to infarction (heart attack) and cardiac function.   We can even treat certain thyroid conditions with a pill that ablates the thyroid gland, thereby preventing surgery.

DEXA (done density analysis):  Our new state of the art Hologic Discovery-W unit evaluates a patient's bone density.  The newest World Health Organization database is utilized and in conjunction with FRAX tool estimates the risk of fracture over time.  Bone density analysis is very important as many fractures can be prevented if low bone density is diagnosed and treated.  We can also assess the overall composition of body fat to aid in diet and exercise programs.

Interventional procedures:  Many minimally invasive biopsies and procedures are offered by our experienced radiologists using image guidance including:  CT, ultrasound, fluoro (x-ray), and mammographic technology.

Electronic Radiology record:  As all medical imaging services provided at MHSC through Advanced Medical Imaging are electronic, your examination and results can be immediately reviewed electronically by your health care practitioner via the Internet through HIPAA compliant encryption to ensure your complete privacy.  Medical imaging records are available through this electronic format to your health care practitioner 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Committed to your health care when you need it:  Advanced Medical Imaging is honored to participate in your health care!  We realize health care is not an 8 to 5 job.  We always provide 24 hours/ 7 days/ 365 days a year radiologist coverage at MHSC.  We are here when you need us and we are local!
